Name
Advanced Rack Building
Description

This intensive course takes participants beyond the basics, providing the skills and knowledge required to design, construct, document, and maintain professional-grade equipment racks for smart home and AV integration projects.
Starting with the fundamentals of rack design, you will learn to assess project requirements and translate them into detailed documentation and software-based plans. Topics include equipment selection based on size, weight, and mounting compatibility; calculating power and heat management needs; defining space requirements; and creating cable schedules that account for both essential and non-essential equipment.
You’ll explore how to choose the right rack system for different scenarios, including situational rack selection, and the factors that influence whether a build should be completed on- or off-site. Practical guidance covers cable selection, management, lacing, and labelling, as well as interpreting schematics, transitioning cables on-site, and collaborating with other contractors to ensure correct rack placement.
The course also covers creating accurate as-built documentation to support future service and upgrades, alongside proven strategies for ongoing rack maintenance, including service plan development and process management.
By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the advanced techniques needed to deliver robust, well-organised, and easily serviceable racks that meet the highest professional standards.
