Joel Silver of ISF describes HDR as “the biggest thing to happen to video since the introduction of colour”. But with it comes plenty of challenges for the system designer, especially with two-piece projection and the often-conflicting requirements of more light on the screen, deeper blacks in the picture, and less light in the room while light is reflecting off all kinds of surfaces. And that’s assuming you can get the signal to the projector properly in the first place!
