If your business is looking at lighting as a new service, then this package is the ideal introduction to this interesting and profitable sector.
This two-day course is a great way to get a complete understanding of how lighting fits into a connected home.
Lighting Fundamentals - day 1
Lighting control installation can be a profitable area for residential integrators. However, systems should be designed, installed and documented correctly for long-term reliability. Lighting technology has advanced a great deal in recent years. It is now a highly complex field.
This course starts by exploring lamp types, their characteristics and capabilities. A strong emphasis is placed upon the science behind the 'art' of lighting. Other subjects covered include colour temperature, power law, series vs. parallel wiring, voltage drop and cabling sizing. All technical discussions reference the BS7671 electrical standards. After discussing the theory of lighting the course moves on to a practical session. This includes testing of different dimming control types such as resistive dimming, LED, DALI and DMX.
The course is for engineers and designers that are new to lighting control. As such, it is a technically focused day.
By the end of the day students will:
Residential Lighting Control - day 2

The course is aimed at developing installation engineers and designers who have a basic understanding of lighting control. It consists of hands-on sessions with a strong emphasis on regulation and safety. This includes BS7671 and Part L compliance. Students will also learn about energy consumption and other ecological considerations. Other related issues such as bathroom fans, emergency lighting, blinds, awnings and weather stations will be discussed. Students will discover common pitfalls and establish best practice in all areas. The afternoon will also include a practical session where the different types of dimming are examined. Students can expect to leave with a strong understanding of the complete technical solution for lighting control systems.
