9:00am - 1:00pm
The convergence of device-to-device communication via internet protocol and ethernet networks is a critical topic in the integration industry.
This course will help learners build a solid foundation of practical knowledge related to configuring IP for basic device applications. This course explores the structure of a typical residential IT network, studies the differences between types of networks, details the OSI seven-layer model, prepares home technology integrators to recommend hardware based on network configurations, tests WAN configuration connection speed, and instructs how to successfully build a plan to document the network IP addresses.
Learning Objectives· Describe the structure of a typical domestic network· Explain the differences between the various network types: Bus, Ring (Loop), Star (hub and spoke), and Mesh· Discuss common Wi-Fi modes and architectures· Identify the characteristics of a WAN and LAN· Recall the OSI seven-layer model· Explain in detail the bottom three layers of the OSI model· Recall the basic functionality of network hardware· Explain DHCP, MAC, and IP Addresses· Recommend hardware based on the network configuration· Define the basic terminology of wireless networking· Explain the impact of construction materials on WLAN signal strength· Discuss how signal strength and interference impact the performance and reliability of the wireless network· Explain the differences between static and dynamic addresses· Build a plan to document the network IP addresses
